Pictures from my dad's visit

The following pictures are from our time in Mizan.
The zonal agriculture office organized an environment day for Mizan/Aman while my dad was in town. We got to participate in the day's events. This is my dad planting a tree.
Planting trees on environment day.
I also did several environment day activities with the local high schools. We had planted several nursery beds of seeds in march, and were able to do the transplanting with the students during the time that my dad was there.
I love this family. It is my good friend Meheret's (not pictured here) family. She moved to Addis about a year ago, but her mom and two little sisters still live in Mizan. I visit them from time to time and was able to introduce my dad to them as well.
shakla Tibs. This is one of my favorite foods here! It's just cooked meat (cooked in the lard of the the cow the meat was taken from) eaten with bread or injera. SO good!
We killed this rat in a trap the first night my dad was at my house (I'm on 10 rats now by the way!)
This food is called 'Bayaynet'. It's a vegan dish that is eaten frequently here. I love it! It's an assortment of vegetable and lentil dishes.
My dad drinking local fruit juice.
My neighbor, Rabiya, and her son Amar.

  2. Great photos, Eleanor!

We love Ethiopian food. One of the things I miss most about living in NYC is our favorite restaurant, the Queen of Sheba (Ethiopian). :~)

    Thanks for sharing!
